Continuing our relationship with the community in Rikuzentakata, Japan, HouseMart Ace Hardware and Ben Franklin Crafts set out on our third relief trip. Milton Fujii, CFO of HouseMart, with the help of Derek Kurisu, Executive VP of KTA, Kurt Osaki from Osaki Creative Group, Yamada Yoshiteru of DIYNA City and a host of others, treated the residents to a Hawaiian cultural exchange including Hula dancing and a luau. The group was able to make and refurbish outdoor fixtures, as well as tour the area to see how far the once bustling city has progressed. They were also able to participate in the return of the city’s annual sporting events and try some of the regions local cuisine.
Even as he visits for the third time, the resilience of the community at Rikuzentakata continues to humble Milton. Share in his thoughts and experiences as he and others continue to support those affected by the 2011 tsunami. Thank you for your continued support.
